Aldus Lookridge works in a large warehouse. He helps missionaries. Every night, he loads their cars with the apples they will need.
The apples come to him in large crates. Every crate contains 10 boxes. Every box contains 10 apples.
If he needs to, he opens up crates and boxes to make his order. But he never opens up more than he has to.
For example, suppose he had only unopened crates, and he had to give a missionary 6 apples. He would open up a crate, then he would open up one of the boxes from that crate, then he would put 6 apples from that box into the missionary's car.

The missionary will have to open the box of apples, of course, to give 7 to each family. But that's the missionary's problem. While driving, the missionary would rather have the apples neatly boxed.
